On 19th of December 2017, the Muscat Court of First Instance had hosted the first hearing of Khaled Alrashdi’s trial. Alrashid, a former presenter, was accused by the general prosecutor of insulting employees of two ministries; the Interior and housing. Alrashdi previously published tweets about official institutions violating the law, without naming the institutions. The trial was postponed to the 2nd of January 2018.
